Govardhan Hill, also known as Giriraj or Govardhan Parvat, holds significant cultural and religious importance in Hinduism. Located near the town of Vrindavan in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India, Govardhan Hill is associated with the childhood of Lord Krishna. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Krishna lifted the Govardhan Hill on his finger to protect the residents of Vrindavan from the wrath of the rain god, Indra. This event is known as "Govardhan Puja" and is celebrated annually as a festival in the Hindu calendar. Devotees believe that circumambulating the Govardhan Hill is a sacred act and perform a pilgrimage called "Parikrama" around its base. The hill is dotted with temples, shrines, and sacred sites related to the life of Lord Krishna. Overall, Govardhan Hill is a revered and spiritually significant site for millions of Hindus, symbolizing the divine pastimes and miracles associated with Lord Krishna. Govardana Parikrama (going 21 kilometers around the path) is a sacred ritual performed by many believers as spiritual purification. There is no time limit for performing this Parikrama. Our Priests will show you the signs of feet or cows or Radha Krishna on these stones. This is a belief that these stones have seen Radha Krishna do their Leela and they carry their imprints. Each stone is treated like Krishna and Radha. The whole parikrama route passing by the various temples, ponds, and groves is about 21 km. Soft Earth walking path on most of the route allows you to walk easily, even barefoot, like most walk.
