Ahmedabad Airport, known as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport is located in Hansol which is around 9 km north of central Ahmedabad. Named after India’s first deputy Prime Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, this international airport serves the city of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. The Ahmedabad airport is well connected with the rest of the country by major airlines in India. According to the statistics of year 2012-13, the airport catered to 4,162,747 passengers with 38,289 aircraft movements.

The Ahmedabad airport is the eighth busiest airports in the country in terms of passenger traffic. The new terminal has been modeled based on the Singapore Chang airport. There are a total of 4 terminals – Domestic, International, an additional terminal for secondary traffic and a cargo terminal. There are 45 parking bays and both the international and domestic terminals have four aero-bridges each. The airport sees a daily average of 17 international flights from Ahmedabad.
